A Relaxing Walk Around St. Louis

St. Louis actually boasts more than 100 outdoor parks in the vicinity. The city has an affinity for outdoor recreation which is shown by the sheer number of the parks in the area. This affinity is also shown by the impeccable way that they keep their parks clean and groomed. If you are simply looking to spend a relaxing day walking around St. Louis, then be sure to stop by some of the amazing parks in the area.

Tower Grove Park
The Tower Grove Park was established by the same man who created the world famous Missouri Botanical Gardens. Inside the park are miles of walking trails set with thousands of trees and shrubs imported from all over the world. There are also numerous statues throughout the park, further adding to its beauty. If you wish to sit down and take a break, enjoy one of the many Victorian pavilions still located in the park from its advent in the late 1800s. This park has been a St. Louis favorite for more than 100 years, for a very good reason.

Forest Park
Forest Park is one of the most dynamic parks in St. Louis. Inside there are numerous attractions that are among the most popular in the city. The Jewel Box is a greenhouse that is home to thousands of beautiful colored flowers during any season of the year. Forest Park was also the site of one of the best World's Fairs of all time, sponsored in 1903. A museum in the park chronicles that part of Forest Park's history. Many other museums and the world famous St. Louis Zoo are also located inside the incomparable Forest Park.

O'Fallon Park
While O'Fallon Park may seem a bit provincial compared to the likes of Forest Park, this patch of grass has plenty of charm on its own. The 300 acre tract features a lake and even an observation tower. There are numerous places to hold picnics and barbecues, and even a playground which is great for families visiting with children.

Hyde Park
One of the most natural parks in all of St. Louis has to be Hyde Park. It is almost devoid of the "attractions" popular at other parks, but is a beautiful and serene place to spend an afternoon. Bright green grass and huge trees are scattered throughout the park, providing shade during a warm day. This is a great place for children as it features both a playground and a spray pool.
